Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is holly place of worship of Sikhs in New Delhi near Connaught Palace and one of the most prominent Sikh Gurudwara in India. It is famous for the association of Eigth Sikh Gurus and inside pool named as Sarovar. It was built by Sikh General Sardar Bhagel in 1783 and originally a residence belonging to the Raja Jai Singh, who was Indian ruler in 17th century.

The eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan resided here during his stay in Delhi in 1664. During that time, there was smallpox and cholera disease and Guru Har Krishan helped people with fresh water from the well at this house. It has tranquil golden dome and tall flagpole, the mansion houses a Gurudwara, kitchen, large pool, school and Art gallery. The concept of Langar is practised and all people can eat in langar hall.
